Principal Dialect: Shaanxi
Geography: Located in the center of Guanzhong Plain in northwest China, bounded by the Qinling Mountains on the south and by the Weihe Plain and the Loess Plateau on the north. Its southeast is higher than its northwest, and is known for its mild climate, fertile soil and adequate rainfall.
Climate: Temperate zone with distinct seasons. Average daily temperature in July is 89 and in January 39.
Attractions: Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Dayan Pagoda, City Wall and the Tomb of the First Emperor.
Interesting note: For 11 dynasties, from the 11th century BC, Xi'an was the capital of China. It was the starting point of the ancient trade route with the West known as the Silk Road.
